Hostelling International Brazil welcomes this month two new hostels made for the extreme sports lovers: Rio Surf N Stay and Jangada HI Hostel.

Located in Recreio, a neighbourhood in the west side or Rio de Janeiro, Rio Surf N Stay, as the name says, is specialized in surfing. With a mix of hostel and surf school, it receives guest from all over the world, including professional surfers, to drop Rio´s good waves. To receive this kind of public, the hostel has created a special infrastructure, with surfboard storage, equipment renting, surf condition reports, a specialized crew, including professional surfers, and a customized Volkswagen camper van to take the guest to where the best waves are.

But the non-surfers are also welcomed in the hostel. Located two blocks away from the Macumba Beach, and being one of the few hostels in the west zone of the city, Surf N Stay receives people who want to experience a different side of Rio, away from the urban chaos and closer to nature.

"Many people saty here because of the location. They want to explore a part of Rio that is not as famous as the south zone or downtown. But it is a fact that many end up involved by the surfing athmosphere of the hostel and hire a few classes to try it out", says Angelo Hereda, professional surfer and manager of the hostel. He´s been searching for partners in the region to increase the touristic atractions in the region, surrounded by rivers, green mountains and the sea.

Rio Surf N Saty has four private bedrooms and two group bedrooms. In the common area, guests can relax in a lounge with TV, in a garden or a bar in the external area, where they can also test their balance on a slackline rope.
