Youth Hostel BRKINI

Youth hostel Brkini is located in beautiful and small village Brce, which lies on eastern slope of the hills called Brkini. The village has got  only 10 houses and 30 inhabitants and is conected by an asphalt road with the nearest town Ilirska Bistrica, which is only 4 km away.

Hostel Brkini has 16 beds in three separate apartments, wich also have a kitchen with all necesary dishes, living room with cabel TV, bathroom with shower and a terrace. Hostel is restored old farm and historical elements as the traditional black kitchen have all been preserved.

The surrounding woods and fields are ideal for horseback riding, and the owners keep horses for rent on their farm and give riding lessons in the arena beside the house. Besides that the countryside is ideal for trips, hikes and cycling.

You can go climbing in the near mountains: Sneznik (1796 m), Kozlek (997 m), Slavnik (1028 m), and Nanos (1262 m). You can go also fishing on the (water - storage) lakes Mola and Klivnik or on the river Reka in the immediate vicinity. In the summer months bathing, swimming and other water sports are possible on the sea, for it is only 25 km to the Adiratic Sea with its Kvarner Bay.

Hostel Brkini offers many information about slovenian most famous sights as Postojna or Škocian caves, castles and the Lipica Stud Farm as also many interesting tales about historical sites nearbly. There is a variety of natural and cultural attractions and opportunities of tasting home produces food, by which the area of Brkini is famous.
