Bled – the Pearl of Slovenia

Slovenia has only one island but its uniqueness makes it more attractive than many an archipelago. Sheltered by picturesque mountains, the island reigns in the middle of an Alpine lake. Its charm has made it a symbol for centuries of a town to which guests from all over the world love to return. This town, which has already existed for a thousand years, is BLED ( I feel Slovenia )
The autumn is a perfect time to avoid summer rush and really enjoy in everything what Bled has to offer. For sure you have to visit Bled castle. Perched quite dramatically high up on a cliff, offering unforgettable view of the lake and the wider area of Gorenjska and the Julian Alps. But the view is not all what castle has to offer. You can also visit printing workshop, vine cellar, herbal gallery, souvenir shop and museum. Bled’s most famous feature is the crystal-clear lake which has an Island crowned by the 55 metre tower of the baroque Church of the Assumption. One option is to rent a boat and rove to the famous island yourself, but even better idea is to take a boat tour and reach the island shore with traditional boat Pletna. While in Bled don’t forget to try another symbol of the town, delicious Cream cake. Perfect solution to burn calories after having Cream cake is a nice evening walk around the lake. For romantic souls we recommend a ride with the coachmen or »Fijaker«, as we call it here in Bled.
