During the time between the St. Martin’s festival and Christmas the Viava valley is especially filled with activities. It is the time of the traditional ”Vinski hrami Vipavske doline” (days of wine cellars of the Vipava valley), when different villages present their culture and mostly culinary and wine specialties.
This year’s event will start on Friday, Noveber 7th 2008, when the Ferjančič on Gradišče pri Vipavi shall open their door and offer their eights, and the even will last until the Sunday, December 21st 2008.
Apart from the visit of eights which will offer home made specialties, you will also be able to visit local Vipava wine cellars, which will be open every Saturday inviting the visitors for a glass of young wine. You can read more about the program at their website: www.ra-rod.si/hrami08/ .
The event is for individual guests as well as larger groups, which should, however, announce their arrivals via telephone: 05 368 70 41 (TIC Vipava) or 05 365 91 40 (TIC Ajdovščina).
We also suggest that our visitors explore the varied natural and cultural heritage of the region. While in Vipava, you can take a stroll to the springs of the river Vipavka, which is the only river in Europe with a delta like spring. You can also ride the bike routes throught the wine roads, or hike to the Nanos mountain.
All who wish to stay for several days can find comfortable accommodations in local tourist farms and from this year forth we are also offering sleeping accommodations in “Koren” apartments at the main Vipava square.
