Two free days were tempting, the weather forecast was good and after a busy working Monday, the road led to Gorenjska, to Kranjska Gora. The cosy tourist centre was not crowdy, it was calm, people were lost in the streets. The temperatures on the festively coloured evening were not exactly friendly, so the long sleeves came useful. A walk to Lake Jasna with a view of Prisojnik, that was visible behind the clouds, felt good before going to bed. In the immediate vicinity of the lake lies hostel Barovc, where you will find friendly and smiling people always ready to give you more information about the area, as well as a warm cup of tea that feels amazing in the evening. And after that we simply had to go to the bonfire with live music. A nice crowd of visitors gathered who eagerly awaited the burning of the bonfire so that we would be at least a bit warm.

The sun shone through the clouds, the singing of the birds woke us up in the morning and even the beginning of the day was wonderful. The plan was to climb to Vitranc, a 1638 metres high peak that rises above Kranjska Gora. The beginning of the path starts near Lake Jasna and offers beautiful views towards Kranjska Gora. The higher we went, the steeper became the path, it also offered several views, and it was surrounded with the auriculas and hellebores, which were then only peeking from the ground. When I began to wonder if it was still far to the top and Mojca's house, because my form was not as good as in previous years, the ridge opened and a meadow with hellebores was in front of us. A cottage was opened and had a few visitors, so we were quickly served with some refreshments. A few additional steps to the lookout point, from which, despite the fog and low clouds, a lot was visible – on the eastern end of the Savska dolina and the western part of the Karavanke, to the north to Dobrač and to the south, the view towards Prisojnik, Razor and parts of the peaks of the Martuljek group. Balm for my soul, as I say when I am fascinated by the views. Since we did not go to Ciprnik, we descended the Vitranc ski resort. In the upper part, there was still some snow, so caution was required while taking steps and then we were quickly descending. At Bedanec's house we had a choice of whether to go to the valley on foot or drive with a sled. Dilemma? No. We descended on sleds, a wind in our hair and with another interesting adventure. When we arrived in Kranjska Gora the day was not over yet. Planica and Zelenci were still in the plan for the first day of May.

Who doesn't know Planica and the new Nordic Centre? The complex, which grew in the valley of Tamar under Ponce, is breath-taking and worth sightseeing. A magnificent view of the ski flying hill and seven ski jumping hills opens from the viewing platform. We were surprised that there was no crowd and you really got the feeling that you are walking around there all alone. This time I did not go up the stairs to the top of the hill, but I will go up again at the first opportunity. Zelenci, the source of the river Sava Dolinka, hidden in the corner of the forest, was all alone. The emerald green colour invited us to come visit when we were descending from Vitranc, as the distinctive colour stood out from the grey day. A place where you turn your brains off and relax, and let the natural beauty take over. In 1992, they were proclaimed a nature reserve, and represent a living space for many animal species (sand lizards, adders, bats, lizards) and the home of rare and endangered plants (red rattles, menyanthes, eriophorum, ranunculus).

The last free day was dedicated to a point where you stand in one place but in three countries - tripoint. Because of the rain, we didn't visit the tripoint, but it will stay on our bucket list for another time. It was a tourist day, and it was made for discovering the beauty of the valley of Belopeška jezera. Belopeška or Mangart lakes are lakes in the Julian Alps, located in the Mangart valley, near Tarvisio. Since 1971 they have been declared the National Park of Belopeška jezera. I've seen the lakes several times, but I never took the time to walk around. This day was ideal for a walk, and so we walked around the lower lake and only partially walked around the upper lake, because the path was cut down by the trees. Due to the clouds, the summit of Mangart on the south side of the lakes was hiding, but I believe that next time we will see it again in all its greatness. Ponce in the east were even more cluttered in the cloud of clouds, which didn't go away the whole time of the visit. Although we were not given the opportunity to see the magnificent views of the surrounding peaks, we spent a wonderful day. I know what hiking can do to you, what it can offer you. I appreciate every day that I spend in nature - no matter what the weather is like.

When we were returning home, we made another bend - to the Radovna valley. The valley is entirely located in the area of the Triglav National Park and, according to the view, it is a paradise for bikers and hikers. Away from the city bustle and crowds, I could certainly spend a lot of time in this valley... The Radovna River ends at the end of the Bled Gorge with the Šum waterfall, but this natural attraction has remained on the bucket list when we go to the Gorenjska region again.

If you are already in Bled, you also stop there, don't you? I could not get out of my skin, the view from the Bled castle wins every time. Visiting the castle, which is currently being renovated, was a must. It was worth it. After that, the path really led only towards home.

Kranjska Gora is an ideal starting point for discovering new paths, discovering natural corners, disconnecting from all the troubles, admiring everything that nature gives and offers. It is a great starting point for mountain climbers, mountain conquerors, daily tourists and families with young children. For me this was not the first visit of these ends, certainly not the last and I admit that I am looking forward to the upcoming visit to our Gorenjska region.
