Frederikshavn is a Danish market town with a very special atmosphere and has ferry links to Norway, Sweden, and the Danish island of Læsø. The town has a rich history and was once used as a naval base for Tordenskiold, a naval hero during the War from 1709-1720. Each year a festival is held by the town to commemorate Tordenskioldsdage, ‘The year 1717.’ Over 100 actors and extras participate in this historic event.
There are many pedestrian streets with more than 100 specialty shops, cafes and restaurants. Visitors can also enjoy the art museum, concerts and other events held year round.
