Winter on the shores of Israel's Red Sea

Content
As winter sets in over the world, the landscape of most cities begins to change. Eilat is Israel’s southernmost city, and though it may not become snowy or frosty, it transforms as well. Eilat’s resort hotels fill up with vacationing couples and the Hosteling International Isreal branch fills up with young partygoers. The predominant language switches from Hebrew to various European dialects. The beaches, streets, clubs and shops are overtaken by sun-seekers ecstatic to be out of the cold.

Sunny all year long
Europeans and other travellers flocking to Eilat in the winter months has become a yearly ritual. While most of Europe is digging out their scarves and boots, Eilat boasts temperatures of between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius. And with Eilat averaging 360 sunny days per year, it’s unlikely that anyone’s winter getaway will be marred by unpleasant weather.

It isn’t just an enviable climate that Eilat has to offer
Located at the tip of the Red Sea, Eilat is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Both swimming and water sports are popular in Eilat, and one of the biggest draws is diving thanks to the coral reef. The Coral Beach Nature Reserve is an ideal introduction to tropical marine life for snorkelers and divers alike.

For those who can tear themselves away from the beaches, the Negev Desert awaits
Granite mountains, limestone, sandstone, and the famous Timna Park are there to be explored. A number of archaeological and historical tours are available, some in Jeeps or on camelback.

For many visitors to Eilat, the sunny days spent in picturesque locations aren’t even the biggest draw. The nightlife has gained a reputation through Israel as well as Europe for being a vibrant scene with a welcoming vibe, whether the party venue of choice is a rave, festival, or nightclub.
