Hostel Klagenfurt

Kind Staff, Great Location
After visiting the interesting sightseeing point Pyramidenkogel, which offers a great view of the Wörthersee and the surrounding mountains, we headed towards the HI Youth Hostel Klagenfurt, where we had a reserved stay. Hostel impressed us. Friendly receptionists, excellent location, comfortable, nice, clean and tidy rooms, rich breakfast buffet and a great parking outside are the reasons the hostel impressed us and convinced us that the hostel is really great.

Hostelling International guarantees comfort and quality
Youth Hostel Klagenfurt (Jugendgästehaus Klagenfurt) belongs to the HI hostel network. It has an excellent location. It is located only 3 kilometres from the city centre, so you can go to the city by public transport, by car, and in the warm part of the year by bike (the bike can be parked in a bicycle shed). We were in Klagenfurt by car, so we were glad to hears that there was a large parking lot in front of the hostel, and there were no parking problems. Since we went to the city in the evening by car, we opened the ramp on the parking lot when we returned to the parking lot with a key. The location is not only great because of the nearby city centre, but also due to the proximity of the Minimundus and the planetarium, which are true attractions for children. Another reason for the young families to choose this hostel.

Clean and beautiful rooms, comfortable beds
There is a large reception room on the ground floor of the hostel. A friendly receptionist arranged bureaucracy on arrival, gave us the key from the room and sent us to our room with words of welcome. A breakfast buffet is served in this part of the building in the morning, and there are also two large conference rooms below, suitable for various seminars, symposia, conclusions. Wi-fi operates throughout the hostel.

Rooms are very nice. We loved our room. Each room has its own story written near the front door. The room has a spacious hall, bedroom, bathroom with shower and toilet. Most of the rooms are 4- or 6-bed rooms, and seven rooms are double rooms. On the ground floor there are two rooms adapted for disabled people. The rooms are refurbished, very modern furnished, clean and large enough to have - in spite of suitcases on the floor - enough space.

Continental Breakfast
A rich buffet breakfast is served between 7:00 and 9:00 in the morning. We had toasted bread, whole-grain bread, cheese, and a variety of spreads and marmalades. There is also cereal and milk, meat cold cuts, fresh vegetables. We were also pleased with the rich variety of teas, and the delicious coffee. Upon agreement in advance you can also arrange a lunch and / or dinner in the hostel's kitchen.

After a big breakfast, we went to a Sunday exploration of Klagenfurt. First we visited the Wörthersee, one of the largest and warmest Alpine lakes in Austria, and then we went to explore the city of Klagenfurt. Both the town of Klagenfurt and the hostel impressed us and enchanted us. We definitely recommend a weekend (two-day) trip regardless of season.
